The Kitsap County Department of Community Development, located in Port Orchard, received an upgraded SMARTGov permitting system. The upgraded system went live May 7.

According to Jeff Rowe with the Kitsap County Department of Community Development, the SMARTGov system will provide a more user friendly public portal for clients, including an enhanced inspection request process and ability to review permit status.

“Previously, our clients would check the status of their permit online only to find out that it was in a ‘pending’ status. Clients have been asking for this enhancement for years,” said Larry Keeton, DCD Director.

The upgrade also positions the department for online submittals that can integrate with the county’s current imaging system and several electronic plan review applications. “These efforts will ultimately lead to a more customer friendly experience with DCD,” said Keeton.
