Confrontation turns to attempted robbery | 911 brief

POULSBO — A conversation turned confrontation landed two men in jail on Wednesday night.

According to Poulsbo Police Deputy Police Chief Shawn Delaney, a 26-year-old Kingston man and a 20-year-old Vancouver man were booked into jail on robbery charges after an incident in the Central Market parking lot.

At about 11:30 p.m., two men were sitting in a vehicle in the parking lot when the two suspects confronted them and began arguing. Though Delaney couldn’t comment on what the argument was about, he did say the two suspects demanded the men give them money and their car.

One of the suspects had a gun, according to Kitsap County Sheriff reports.

One of the victims told sheriff’s deputies he believed the suspects kidnapped his friend.

Sheriff’s deputies spotted a red mini van in Suquamish that resembled the description one of the victims gave. The minivan was parked in front of JC’s Grocery, which was closed.

Sheriff’s deputies pulled the van over, the driver was arrested without incident. The passenger fled.

When the driver was asked why he was pulled over, he responded that it likely had something to do with his friend, to whom he had loaned his van.

“He said that when (the friends) returned they were ‘all hyped up,’ so he knew that ‘something had gone down,’ “ the sheriff’s report stated.

The passenger was tracked down by a K9, which found the man hiding under a porch. He was taken to the hospital and treated for a dog bite before being taken to the Kitsap County Jail.
