Talent agent to visit Mobster Mike’s Sept. 22

So you think you’re funny? Here’s your chance to be discovered by a nationally known talent agent.

Pat Wilson, who has placed comic talent in most of the top comedy-oriented television shows and clubs, will be visiting Bremerton on Sept. 22 to listen to the weekly open-mike session at Mobster Mike’s Comedy Club at 602 Fourth Avenue in Bremerton. Wilson will watch the comedy hopefuls run through routines and hold a comedy workshop and Question-and-Answer session.

Local student receives WSU scholarships

Lacey Lancaster was awarded $500 from the Voiland College of Engineering and Architecture dean’s scholarship fund; $500 from the LeNail-Yoler scholarship fund; and $2,000 from Washington State University. She is the daughter of Brenda Carter Lancaster and Andy Lancaster of Silverdale, Washington.

Edward Jones grand opening on Oct. 7

The financial services firm Edward Jones has hired Jennifer Zuver as the new financial advisor for Manette branch office located at 1100 Wheaton Way, Suite C.

Zuver is enthusiastic about taking over the office.

Zuver invites the public to join her at a grand opening celebration. The event will begin at 3 p.m. Oct. 7 at her office.

Flight deck training near NBK

Flight deck training will be performed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz on Sept. 9. Loud noises and alarms may be heard throughout the Bremerton area as early as 5 a.m. on these days, due to drill activity being conducted on the ship’s flight deck.

The drills are a standard operation conduced by all aircraft carriers to prepare sailors who work on the flight deck for upcoming Navy certifications.

Kitsap Business Forum accountability seminar Sept. 13

One of the gold standards of great organizations is their ability to create a culture of high accountability, in which commitments are clear and consistently met. However, creating this culture isn’t simple.

The Kitsap Business Forum will present a lively, interactive discussion called “How to hold people accountable while inspiring them to greatness,” 7:30-9 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, 3073 NW Bucklin Hill Road, Silverdale. Networking begins at 7 a.m.

American Pickers to film in Washington

Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz and their team plan to film episodes of the hit series “American Pickers” throughout the region this fall. “American Pickers” is a documentary series that explores the fascinating world of antique “picking” on the History Channel. The show folllows Wolfe and Fritz as they hunt for America’s most valuable antiques.

Social justice meet and greet Sept. 10

The Kitsap County Council for Human Rights is hosting a social justice meet and greet from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Eagle’s Nest in the Kitsap County Fairgrounds, 1195 NW Fairgrounds Road, Bremerton. Social justice organizations from throughout Kitsap County will join in conversations and share information with the community about the work they do, upcoming events and resources available. Girls on the Run coach registration open

Girls on the Run of West Sound needs 60 coaches for the fall season. Register to be a coach and help make a difference in a girl’s life. Coaches with a child in the program receive a $25 discount.

John L. Moroney, a local Edward Jones financial advisor, will host a coffee club at 8:30 a.m. on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 2416 NW Myhre Road Suite 102, Silverdale.
