Solar U workshop; students making honor role; VBS; 4th of July.

Kitsap Solar U workshop July 21

Local students make Honor Roll at Oregon State

Local students made the scholastic honor roll for the Oregon State University spring term. A total of 1,017 students earned 4.0 grade point averages, and another 3,745 earned a 3.5 GPA or higher, a requirement to make the honor roll. Students also needed to be enrolled in at least 12 credits to qualify. The following students are local members of the OSU honor roll: Sean C. Mulholland, of Bremerton; stanley B. Palmer Jr., of Bremerton; Tanner J. Moretty, of Keyport; Kyle J. Bergman, of Silverdale; and Jaden P. Yuros, of Silverdale.

Peace Lutheran VBS camp starts July 25

Join Peace Lutheran Church for its 2016 Vacation Bible School camp, 9 a.m. to noon July 25-29, 1234 Riddell Road, Bremerton. Open to children ages 3 through incoming fifth-graders. The theme is Barnyard Roundup; children will learn Psalm 23 through memory verses, songs and activities. The cost is $15 per child, or $25 for a multiple-children family. 4th of July celebration  hosted in Keyport

Keyport celebrates the 4th of July with classic small-town events.

The community pancake breakfast will start at 8 a.m. July 4 at the Keyport Bible Church Recreation Building, 15270 Washington Ave. The breakfast costs $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and military, $4 for kids age 5-12 and free for kids under 5.

The parade will assemble at 1 p.m. at the fire station on Pacific Avenue.

Open water swim at Wildcat Lake

Join the Bremerton Family YMCA in an open-water swim, 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 27. There will be a half-mile swim starting at 9 a.m. and a one-mile swim starting at 9:45 a.m. Each participant receives a commemorative T-shirt and swim cap. Each finisher will receive a medal. Awards will be given to top finishers in each age category. There will also be a raffle and music. The event is open to the public, and costs $30 to register.
