Coast Guard rescues Port Orchard diver near Cape Flattery

The Coast Guard rescued a Port Orchard diver lost in the fog near Cape Flattery after a solo dive.

NEAH BAY — The Coast Guard rescued a Port Orchard diver lost in the fog near Cape Flattery after a solo dive, reported the Peninsula Daily News.

The diver, reported to be in good condition, was reported missing at 9:36 a.m. Aug. 19 by a friend who said he couldn’t find him on the surface of the water because of the thick fog.

A Coast Guard Station Neah Bay motor life boat crew found the diver who was waving for help and took him to Station Neah Bay where he was transferred to local emergency medical services for evaluation.

An Air Station Port Angeles MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew was launched along with the Neah Bay crew.
