Closings announced in observance of Christmas holiday

All federal, state, county, city government offices, and school districts will be closed in observance of Christmas.

All federal, state, county, city government offices, and school districts will be closed in observance of Christmas.

The Port Orchard City Hall will be closed on Dec. 25, along with all Kitsap County government offices and buildings.

Post offices are closed Dec. 25, along with banks and other financial institutions.

South Kitsap School District schools be closed from Dec. 22 through Jan. 2.

Classes will resume Jan. 5.

District offices will be open with limited staff, but will closed Dec. 24-26.

The Independent office will be closed Dec. 24-25 in observance of the Christmas holiday.

The office will reopen at 8 a.m. Dec. 26.

The holidays will cause some changes to garbage pick-up schedules, recycling and garbage facilities, and household hazardous waste drop-off collection.

The Kitsap County Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is closed the week of Dec. 22 for maintenance and reopens Jan. 2.

The Recycling and Garbage Facilities at Olalla are closed Christmas. All facilities normally open Wednesday will close at 2 p.m on Dec. 24.

The Olympic View Transfer Station will close at 3 p.m. Dec. 24 and all-day Christmas, but will reopen on Dec. 26.
