Clark selected as new SK chamber director

A former local nonprofit leader is now the South Kitsap Chamber of Commerce’s new executive director.

The vacancy was created by the departure of Matt Murphy, who resigned at the end of 2023 to accept a position with another chamber outside of Kitsap County. Cody Clark will fill the vacancy. The new director was publically introduced to chamber members at a March 14 gathering.

“With 32 years deeply rooted in our community, Cody brings not only experience but also a heartfelt commitment to South Kitsap,” a chamber news release says. “His dedication is unwavering, evident in his extensive background in resource development, donor engagement and nonprofit fundraising over the past 14 years.”

Clark played a big role in the functions of The Coffee Oasis as its Kitsap Community Development manager. He said his opportunity to build relationships with local chambers and businesses have been valuable, especially now that he gets to see it from the other side. “I was just really excited that I get to do that now for the town that I love and grew up in,” he said. “All of my family is still here, and so I get to partner with local businesses.”

“Over the last five years, he’s worked closely with Chambers of Commerce nationwide, fostering connections and organizing events that bring our business and community together,” the chamber release says. “Cody’s vision for positive change and unity between businesses and community will be invaluable assets to our chamber.”

Concerning the chamber’s future, Clark spoke of opportunities to advocate, advertise and to work in collaboration with fellow businesses. “It’s to make our community better than it already is,” he said.
