After at least three visits by police notifying her not to huff paint, a 46-year-old Bremerton woman was arrested June 16 for inhaling toxic fumes.

The morning of June 15, a police officer was first dispatched to the woman’s apartment on the 1000 block of Burwell Street after a call was received by the building manager saying a tenant was huffing paint outside his apartment complex. The officer found the woman covered from head to toe in silver paint and she had some around her mouth, indicating she had been inhaling it, according to the police report. When the officer asked her about the paint, she responded that she didn’t have any on her. Then she said, “It’s my makeup, you know how girls are.”

The woman denied a call for an ambulance and when the officer advised her that it is a criminal offense to huff paint in the city, she acknowledged that she understood. The officer advised that charging documents would be mailed to her.

On June 16 at 9:22 a.m., an officer found the woman sitting on the ground outside her apartment holding a plastic bag and can of spray paint. There was silver and gold paint on her face, hands and clothes. There was also paint sprayed on the walkways of the apartment and outside the woman’s front door.

The woman was arrested for inhaling toxic fumes and booked into Kitsap County jail.
