BOTANICAL ILLUSTRATION: Portraying the Plant classes are offered through Poulsbo Parks & Recreation Wednesdays, Oct. 8-Nov. 19, from 7-9:30 p.m. at North Kitsap High School. Beginners and more experienced artists welcome; students will learn observation and measurement skills, watercolor washes, and dry brush technique to render realistic leaves, flowers, and other botanical subjects. GHOULSBO: Kids Day in historic downtown Poulsbo will be held Oct. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several booths will be set-up on Front Street with free kids activities to celebrate the Halloween Spirit. Come in costume and participate in pumpkin decorating, mask making, coloring sheets and more. Vote on your favorite scarecrow, store decorations and halloween spirit. THE ARTIST’S WAY: Creating Joy with “the Artist’s Way,” a 13-session group to focus on self recovery and self discovery to remove any blocks to leading the life we would enjoy, will meet every other Monday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. beginning on Oct. 13 and ending March 30. SALSA DANCING: Malo and Rose Castro offer salsa dancing classes in Poulsbo, including the meringue, salsa, and the cha-cha. Singles or couples welcome. Classes are offered every Thursday now through Nov 20. Sign up for one or more classes; fee per person for each class date is $10. FISH PARK: The monthly work parties at Poulsbo’s Fish Park will be the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. beginning Sept. 20. The public is welcome to join in to help this nature park grow into an urban experience for all to enjoy. A variety of tasks will be available each month, including eradicating noxious weeds, blackberry removal, park clean up, the planting of trees and shrubs, and more. Info: (360) 779-9898.
