Bremerton Police arrested a 33-year-old man last night in connection with a recent string of car prowls and thefts in Marine Drive, according to a press release.

A Bremerton Police officer patrolling the area on foot saw the suspect exit his home and then look through his neighbor’s mail.

The suspect was previously arrested for vehicle prowl and trespassing in the area of Marine Drive in January.

“The ongoing thefts and car prowling have had a serious effect on this area, and we appreciate the team effort of the neighborhood in working together to help us out,” said Bremerton Police Chief Steve Strachan.

The suspect was jailed and released this morning from Bremerton Municipal Court on charges of attempted theft.

Prosecutor’s sought a bail of $20,000 due to the suspect’s three pending criminal matters, but the request was denied and the suspect was released. He was ordered not to have any contact with private property on Marine Drive other than his own.

Bremerton Police have taken 25 reports of theft, vehicle prowls and trespassing since December, according to the release. They are doing extra patrols and are working with neighborhoods to report all suspicious activity.
