BREMERTON — A suspect has been arrested in the 2015 felony hit-and-run case that killed a Port Orchard woman.

A 49-year-old male from Bremerton was taken into custody at his home Thursday night by officers from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office and the Washington State Patrol.

On Oct. 14, 2015, Christopher “Chris” Lukkasson, a 64-year-old woman from Port Orchard, was struck by a vehicle in the 4800 block of Victory Drive Southwest in Port Orchard. Lukkasson died the following day from blunt force injuries to her head and torso.

A tip provided by an inmate at the Kitsap County Jail, who stated that he was a passenger in the van during the incident, was forwarded to Detective Krista Hedstrom, the Washington State Patrol officer involved in the case. Detective Hedstrom and officers from the Sheriff’s Office and Bremerton Police Department made their way to the man’s downtown Bremerton home Thursday evening, where he confessed, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Chelsea Hodgson.
