PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys basketball team missed an opportunity to improve its postseason prospects in its 61-48 home loss Jan. 12 to the Bremerton Knights.

The Roughriders entered game in what appeared to be a four-team fight with Bremerton, North Mason (1-3, 5-6) and Kingston for the Olympic League 2A’s fourth and fifth district tournament berths.

With the win and Sequim’s loss to North Kitsap on Jan. 12, the Knights (3-2, 5-5) moved into third place in the league behind Olympic and North Kitsap.

Port Angeles led most of the first half of Monday’s game, but Bremerton’s 3-pointer with 2 seconds remaining tied the game at 25-25 going into halftime.

The Knights outscored the Riders 21-12 in the third quarter and 38-25 in the second half.

Tavontay Carter paced Bremerton with 13 points and Jensen Bumanglag had 11.

The ‘Riders’ Hunter Hathaway led all scorers with 21 points, making 10 of 12 shots from the field, and 13 rebounds.
