The Bremerton Knights continued their impressive start to the season with another lopsided win, this time beating the Kingston Buccaneers 94-50 on the road Dec. 9.
The Bucs have not lost three games in a row after winning their season opener against the Orting Cardinals 57-55 Dec. 1. The Knights are 3-0 to start the season, with their most recent win coming against the Oakland Wildcats of California 65-50.
The Knights took control of the game from the get-go, playing a full-court press defense and forcing early Buccaneer turnovers. Bremerton led 27-14 at the end of the first quarter.
Buccaneer Ethan Hackett converted three consecutive three-pointers in the second quarter, jumpstarting a 9-2 scoring run for Kingston. The Knights led at halftime 50-30, with standout junior Jalen Davis leading the way with 24 points.
Davis continued his strong showing, leading the Knights to a 10-2 scoring run early in the third quarter.
Buc Jamie Napora hit a three-pointer to stymie the Knights’ run with under three minutes remaining in the third, but the Knights continued their scoring output behind Davis and Junior Davis-McWhorter, outscoring the Bucs 28-13 by the end of the quarter, making the score 78-43.
Davis ended the game with 34 points and Napora led Kingston with 14 on the night.
“It was good for them [the Bucs] to have time to compete, you know, to be in the game and fight with an elite team [in Bremerton],” Kingston coach George Hill III said.
