BPD searches for suspect scared off during attempted robbery

The Bremerton Police Department is searching for an armed robbery suspect who attempted to rob a convenience store in Bremerton last night. No money was taken in the attempted robbery.

Bremerton Police are searching for an armed robbery suspect who attempted to rob a small convenience store on 15th Street at Callow Avenue in West Bremerton.

Around 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday night, a man with a bandana covering his face entered Rob’s Quick Stop and confronted the female clerk.

“The female clerk reported she was scared and told the suspect to remove the bandana,” according to a BPD press release. “The suspect pulled his arm up to the counter when the clerk observed the suspect armed with a handgun. The suspect slammed the gun on the counter and pointed the gun directly at her.”

Immediately, the female ducked behind the counter and covered her head. Standing nearby was the clerk’s husband, who drew his own weapon and pointed it at the suspect. The suspect briefly swung his weapon at the husband before fleeing out the door, states the report.

The suspect may have gotten into a green Toyota with a blonde female driver before departing the area. He is described as a black or possibly Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark baggy jeans and black shoes.

Police are asking anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call Bremerton detectives at 360-473-5228. The suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
