Bomb scare closes SR 304 for an hour

BREMERTON — An EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) team from Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) responded to suspicious package found on State Route 304 near Puget Sound Naval Shipyard May 8.

BREMERTON — An EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) team from Naval Base Kitsap (NBK) responded to suspicious package found on State Route 304 near Puget Sound Naval Shipyard May 8.

The package was found around 2:15 p.m. Bremerton Police stopped traffic in both directions along SR 304 and closed the shipyard’s Charleston Gate while the EOD team disposed of the device.

“There was no indication from EOD that it was an actual bomb,” said Chris Haley, spokesman for NBK.

Roads were reopened at 3:15 p.m.
