Body found on Kingston beach

A man's body was discovered on a beach between Indianola and Kingston on the afternoon of Dec. 9.

KINGSTON — The body of an unidentified man was discovered washed up on a Kingston beach the afternoon of Dec. 9.

“At this point, we think the tide brought him in,” said Kitsap County Sheriff’s Deputy Scott Wilson.

Very little is known about the body, Wilson said, as the investigation is barely under way.

“They have to document the scene,” Wilson said of investigators. “That’s critical. They got to get as much of that done before the tide comes in.”

“The first order of business is to find the identity and notify the family,” Wilson said. “And determine a possible cause of death. That’s up to the forensic pathologist.”

So far, no indications of foul play are apparent at the scene.

“Nothing washed up around him that appeared to be weapons or things like that,” Wilson said.

What is known is that a property owner spotted the body and called 911 shortly after 3 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies and medics arrived on the scene at around 4:30 p.m.

The beach is located between Indianola and Kingston, off of the 21400 Block of President Point Road.

“A lot of those houses are high up on a bluff, but they have trails that go down to the beach,” Wilson said.

It is not known how long the body has been there. The reporting party told deputies that he had not gone down to the beach in a couple of weeks.

The body will be turned over to the Kitsap County Coroner who will determine the cause of death and how long the body has been deceased.
