Benefit for former Marine/Keyport Worker set for Saturday

Daniel Mullins, a veteran and two-time Purple Heart recipient, now has brain cancer. His co-workers are pulling together to host a fundraiser to help him in his recovery efforts. Our Place Pub & Eatery in Silverdale will host the benefit from 1-4 p.m.

Daniel Mullins served in the Marines, earning two Purple Hearts, but his military career was sidelined due to an injury in Iraq. Since then, he’s recuperated and was reunited with his family, eventually settling in Washington after he was hired at NUWC Keyport.

Mullins and his wife bought their first home the summer of 2012 and settled in to raise their two little children. A few months after their third child was born, Daniel was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

Tomorrow his co-workers are hosting a fundraiser to help offset costs of transportation to Everett every day for aggressive cancer treatment. Raffle prizes and donations are welcome.

His co-workers are very conscientious of the financial as well as emotional toll this is taking on his wife and children (ages 6, 4 and 8 months). Our Place Pub & Eatery in Silverdale will host the benefit from 1-4 p.m.

Mullins has also been involved in many outreach efforts, including speaking to Navy League, appearing on Mayor Lent’s BKATshow, etc.
