POULSBO — Once again, North Kitsap has proven its standing as one of the most active, caring and generous communities around as its residents and businesses pulled through to put the Bellringer fund through the roof before the end of 2006.

After counting today’s $6,431 total, the fund jumped above it’s $30,000 goal to $33,271.

Mike Brooks, owner of Mike’s Car Wash in Poulsbo, turned in a portion of his proceeds from November and December to give the fund more than a $1,600 boost while the Kitsap County Professional Firefighters Bargaining Unit came through with a $900 donation.

And for those in the community who still wish to make a donation or perhaps have taken a New Year’s resolution of being more selfless, the Bellringer Fund will continue collecting donations.

Donations to the fund can be dropped off at the Kitsap Bank branch in Poulsbo Village or the North Kitsap Herald office, 18887 Highway 305, Suite 700. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.
