The Poulsbo Lions Bellringer Fund continued to close ranks on its record $35,000 goal this week, with more than $2,000 in North End community support landing in its coffers.

The fund is now just $7,000 shy of meeting that goal, and is about $6,000 behind last year’s progress.

Those still wishing to make a donation or contribute again to push the total even higher have through this week to make a donation. The final Bellringer listing will appear in the Jan. 5 issue of the Herald.

The money donated to the Bellringer Fund is distributed by the Poulsbo Noon Lions Club to help area residents in need with bills, food, emergency transportation and Christmas baskets. This is the fund’s 56th year, and the effort is a volunteer one, so that almost all of the money raised goes straight back into the community.

Mike Brooks of Mike’s Car Wash and Detail will donate $2 of every car washed in the months of November and December. Mike’s Car Wash is located at 19774 7th Avenue.

Donations to this year’s fund can be dropped off at Frontier Bank in Poulsbo, or at the North Kitsap Herald office. Donations can also be mailed to Bellringer Fund, P.O. Box 1244, Poulsbo, WA 98370. The help number of the fund is (360) 697-6087.
