Baze, Swift resign from Port Gamble S’Klallam Council

Kelly Baze and Francine Swift have resigned from the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Council. Baze left the council in March to become deputy executive director of the Tribe.

LITTLE BOSTON — Kelly Baze and Francine Swift have resigned from the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Council. Baze left the council in March to become deputy executive director of the Tribe.

Swift left the council at the end of March to pursue a position as gaming agent at The Point Casino; council members cannot be employed by the casino.Baze and Swift’s council positions will be filled in the regular election later this year. Also on the council are Chairman Jeromy Sullivan, Vice Chairman Chris Tom, Jamie Aikman and Eugene Purser.

Baze graduated from North Kitsap High School  in 1996, earned a public health education degree from Central Washington University in 2000, and studied tribal governance at The Evergreen State College.

Swift graduated from North Kitsap High School and studied communication at The Evergreen State College and University of Washington. She represented the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe at the third White House Tribal Nations Conference, Dec. 2 at the U.S. Department of the Interior. She has worked as academic coach coordinator for the Tribe.
