Ballots returned in Kitsap outpace state average

The number of ballots returned in Kitsap County is higher than the state average overall.

In Kitsap, 35,499 of the 154,269 ballots mailed out have been returned, for a 23 percent return.

The state average is 19.9 percent, with 780,318 ballots returned as of Thursday noon.

Statewide, 3,921,659 ballots were mailed to registered voters for Tuesday’s General Election.

The first vote totals in each race in Kitsap County are expected to be posted shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
