Kitsap County will be well represented at this weekend’s Mat Classic XXVII in the Tacoma Dome, with 23 wrestlers who will complete in the Class 3A, 2A and 1A brackets.

The top four wrestlers in each classification at the regional  tournaments advanced to state.

Klahowya, the county’s lone 1A school, has nine grapplers who will compete at the state tournament, which begins today, Feb. 20.

The Eagles had three wrestlers — Gabe Wallis, Eli Everson and Konnor Langholff  — crowned as regional champs at the 1A Region 1 tournament at Meridian.

Klahowya finished third in the team standings, behind first-place Sultan and second-place Vashon Island.

Wallis pinned Jeremiah Cronk, of Mount Baker, for the 145-pound championships, while Everson beat Sultan’s Tanner Belcher in the 152 finals. In the 170 finals, Langholff pinned Bellevue’s Christian’s Alex Irizarry
