Appleton appointed to state panel on aging

OLYMPIA — State Rep. Sherry Appleton announced Wednesday she has been appointed to a state commission on aging.

The Poulsbo Democrat will serve as a member of the Washington Council on Aging, a group that advises the state government on issues of aging, according to a news statement.

The panel also raises public awareness of the potential needs of the aging and other duties.

Appleton sits on three House committees, including Heath and Human Services Appropriations, Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness and is vice-chair of the State Government and Tribal Affairs Committee. Appleton is also a member of the state’s Public Defense Advisory Committee and the Washington State Sentencing Guidelines Commission, where she is chairwoman of the Juvenile Sentencing Committee.
