Two local artists have their work on display in the reception and waiting area of the Advanced Medical Imaging (AMI) Silverdale office.

Trudi Peek of Port Orchard and Cynthia Dice of Bainbridge Island are AMI’s featured artists through mid-July, according to AMI Spokeswoman Susan Phillips.

“The artists appreciate that their work is exposed to hundreds of daily visits to AMI from patients and family members, and AMI is happy that (its) walls are full of high quality artwork in (the) reception areas,” Phillips said. “It’s a win-win situation for all involved, including the public viewing the art.”

Peek, who is retired from the University of Washington’s medical illustration department, uses glass tiles, glues and colorful grouts to create mosaics, Phillips said, and her work has appeared in more than 400 books and journals.

“Her work is very bright and colorful and also on display at Verksted Gallery in Poulsbo,” Phillips said.

Dice, meanwhile, teaches ceramics and paints from her home studio on Bainbridge Island. Her collection of original paintings and greeting cards depict everyday subjects including family, friends and pets, Phillips said.

“They are nostalgic in feeling, reminiscent of 1940s illustrations with a contemporary, whimsical twist,” Phillips described. “Cynthia’s familiar images with simple lines and bold colors invoke sunny days and happy times.”
