Abandoned house on Bethel Burley Road destroyed by fire

A fully involved house fire Nov. 9 at the 15000 block of Bethel Burley Road destroyed the structure, despite a full response by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters.

A fully involved house fire Nov. 9 at the 15000 block of Bethel Burley Road destroyed the structure, despite a full response by South Kitsap Fire and Rescue firefighters.

Crews responded to the scene after a citizen stopped by SKFR’s fire station on Bethel Burley to report the blaze. Access to the structure was difficult, according to firefighters, who had to cut trails for 10 minutes in order to reach the abandoned house.

Taking a defensive stance from the fire, firefighters extinguished it from a safe distance. Three engines, one medic unit, two aid units, four water-carrying tenders and 18 firefighters responded to the blaze.

No injuries were reported. The Kitsap County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
