Brown belt begs for beer, gets jail

A 47-year-old Suquamish man was arrested and booked into Kitsap County Jail on charges of harassment and resisting arrest April 26.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s authorities responded when a 54-year-old man and 48-year-old woman reported the suspect, their tenant, was “beating on their door and was very intoxicated.”

The man had come over to ask for a beer, they told deputies. They also believed him to be a brown belt in a martial art.

The suspect began banging on the side of the house and door.

Later, when a deputy brought the suspect to jail, the man “kept verbally bantering and not doing what I asked,” and continued to tell the officer he forgot to “secure his weapon.”

Later, the man shoved his shoulder into the deputy, at one point causing the officer to slide toward the floor. Corrections officers helped to secure the suspect.

The suspect was held in lieu of $45,000 bail.

Poulsbo woman can’t hold her liquor

A 32-year-old Poulsbo woman kept local law enforcement busy April 20 after the vehicle she was driving was reported as traveling recklessly on Pioneer Way. Authorities responded about 3:30 p.m. to nearby Tytler Road, where the suspect allegedly nearly struck another vehicle before pulling off the roadway. A witness told police the woman was attempting to urinate in a nearby ditch, according to reports from the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office.

Police authorities and paramedics found the woman half-dressed in her vehicle, which smelled of intoxicants, according to reports. She was once again attempting to relieve herself.

After several attempts at learning her name and age, a responding deputy tried to place the woman under arrest. She began to yell, kicked the officer and scratched his hand, drawing blood, reports say. With assistance from another officer, the deputy placed the woman under arrest. She later urinated while being transported to jail in the back of a police vehicle.

When being booked into jail, the woman refused to sign a rights statement, instead scrawling obscenities on the line where a signature is required. The woman later refused a breathalizer test and had to be controlled by corrections staff in a crisis cell with a Taser. The suspect was booked on four counts, including 3rd degree assault and DUI, and held in lieu of $65,000 bail.
