Four-car accident
stalls SR 305
POULSBO — A four car collision at about 5:35 p.m. Jan. 7 at the intersection of Bond Road and State Route 305 caused traffic on the two roads to slow but not halt altogether, Poulsbo Fire Department officials said.
Crews were called the scene after the driver of a Datsun Z28 attempted to make a right turn on a red light when they were struck by an oncoming Toyota Nissan pickup truck. The truck then collided head-on with a Dodge Stratus sedan, which was pushed back into the front of a small SUV, officials said. There were minor injuries only to the passenger of the sedan, who was taken to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, and the driver of the SUV, who declined treatment at the scene.
Couple caught at scene
of attempted burglary
POULSBO — A 28-year-old woman and 30-year-old man both of Port Ludlow were arrested at about 12:30 a.m. Jan. 6 at the 15800 block of Vincent Road in Poulsbo after a 75-year-old Poulsbo man called and said someone was trying to break into his garage. The couple was stopped as they were leaving Hauf Lane from the area of Vincent Road, and the man was discovered with a tool in his pocket that matched marks around a dead bolt on the door to the garage. The elderly man said he had been robbed before, and locked himself in the bathroom and called 911 after hearing noises indicating someone potentially trying to break in.
Deputies said the man and woman, after they were detained, said they had been visiting friends, though their stories of which friends they were visiting did not match. When deputies asked why they were down Vincent Road, they both said they had stopped to use the bathroom, and the woman said she did lose track of the man at one point. At some time during the trip, the couple also took out a residential fence with their car, and left the scene on Hauf Lane without reporting the hit and run.
The woman was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for attempted residential burglary and possession of burglary tools, with bail set at $50,000. The man was booked for the same and for unattended hit and run with bail set at $60,000.
Man taken into
custody after dispute
leads to pot plants
POULSBO — A 26-year-old Poulsbo resident was arrested at about 3:15 p.m. Jan. 4 at the 1200 block of Luoto Court in Poulsbo after his aunt reported he “beat up” his dad, 54, and that investigation led Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies to a number of marijuana plants at the man’s residence.
The woman, 48, called 911 after hearing about repeated disputes between father and son, and felt frustrated nothing was being done, the report stated. The father said he had tried to get help for his son, who regularly loses his temper, but was having trouble doing so. Deputies said they went to talk with the son and arrest him for fourth-degree domestic violence.
While there, the deputies noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the man’s side of the trailer he shares with his father. They gained consent to search the premises and found a total of 11 marijuana plants, one up to 66 inches tall. Deputies asked the man if he grew the marijuana to sell, and he said no, it was just for personal use.
The man was arrested and booked into the Kitsap County Jail for manufacturing marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and for fourth degree assault. His bath was set at $45,000, deputies said.

during lunch break
SILVERDALE — A 20-year-old Poulsbo resident and 19-year-old Bremerton resident were taken into custody after caught smoking marijuana at about 3 p.m. Jan. 6 behind Hank’s Grovery on Chico Way in Central Kitsap, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. The 20-year-old had been on a lunch break from his job at Red Robin when a deputy on a routine patrol noticed the Acura Integra parked behind the store. When the deputy approached, he said he smelled a strong odor of the drug coming from the rolled down windows and asked the driver what he was doing. The driver denied smoking pot at that moment, but said he had earlier in the day.
They were asked to exit the vehicle and a search turned a large ziplock bag with 11.5 grams of marijuana in it, and both denied they were going to sell it. A three-inch pipe was also found in the car.
The two were placed under arrest and booked at the Kitsap County Jail for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, respectively. The 19-year-old’s bail was set at $1,000 and the 20-year-old’s was placed at $2,000, deputies said.
Poulsbo resident takes $83 taxi ride, doesn’t pay up
SILVERDALE — The Best Darn Cab Company called 911 after a 28-year-old Poulsbo resident neglected to pay a $83.50 taxi fare at about 7:30 p.m. Jan. 6 at the Silverdale Beach Hotel, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office. The driver picked up the woman at the hotel, drove her to Bremerton, Poulsbo and back to the hotel. There, she admitted she didn’t have the funds to pay for the ride and went back to her room.
Deputies detained the woman at her hotel room, and she admitted she hadn’t paid the fare because her accounts had been frozen and she only had $11 in cash. She also knew this before she got in the cab and drove around the county.
The woman’s dog was taken to the Kitsap County Humane Society, and she was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for third-degree theft, deputies said.
KCSO assists in
apprehending driver
PORT GAMBLE — Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called on by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department to help find and detain a 47-year-old Sequim resident who eluded a traffic stop and fled over the bridge, according to the KCSO.
The man was arrested at about 3:30 a.m. Jan. 3 in the 4100 block of State Route 104 near Port Gamble. He had several warrants out in Jefferson County for third-degree driving with license suspended and concealed weapons, and had stopped when the Jefferson deputy pulled him over, then pulled away before the deputy released him.
He had a German shepherd with him in the silver Buick as well. Deputies lost sight of the car around SR 104 and Wheeler Street. A short time later, deputies said, he was apprehended after getting his car stuck over a mud embankment near a driveway off SR 104.
After refusing to follow the deputies’ orders while stepping from the vehicle, the man was tasered and taken into custody. He was turned over to Jefferson County deputies and booked at the Jefferson County Jail.
