SUQUAMISH — The front entrance to the Suquamish Tribal Youth Center got an unexpected visitor Saturday evening.

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews and Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the scene at the ninety-degree corner of Suquamish Way and Augusta Ave. around 7 p.m. Dec. 4.

Crews found a Chevrolet van, driven by a 34-year-old Bainbridge Island resident, that had crashed into the front entrance to the youth center.

The driver admitted he had “a couple beers” prior to driving and was placed into custody of the Washington State Patrol for a full DUI investigation.

NKF&R crews believe the crash could have possibly damaged one of the center’s main support beams.

There was no one in the building at the time.

NK residents injured in car crash

EAST BREMERTON — Three North End residents were involved in a three-car collision Saturday shortly before 2 p.m. on State Route 303, just south of Brownsville.

David Espiritu-Santo, 34, of Poulsbo, Katrina Carrier, 18, of Kingston and Daniel Austad, 36, of Bremerton, were all driving southbound on SR 303 when Austad and Carrier both stopped just north of Winters Road.

Espiritu-Santo, driving a 1992 four-door Buick, attempted to stop but slid and struck the back of Carrier’s car, a 1993 Ford Escort. Carrier’s car then struck Austad’s car, a 2004 Honda Civic.

Sherry Carrier, 43, of Kingston, and Norma Whitney, 50, of Port Hadlock, were both passengers in Katrina Carrier’s car. All three women were transported to Harrison Hospital for injuries. Austad and and Espiritu-Santo were not injured. All five people were wearing seatbelts.

Washington State Patrol troopers charged Espiritu-Santo with driving too fast for conditions.
