Mystery Driver

Officers were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. March 17 to a vehicle crashed in the woods by NE Totton Road near Widme Road NE. The car was abandoned.

Officers report fresh tire tracks leaving the roadway and suspect the vehicle hit a ‘Warning Curve Ahead’ sign before colliding with the tree.

Airbags were deployed and officers believed the driver escaped out the passenger window.

The amount of blood left in the vehicle indicated a serious injury.

Inside the vehicle, officers found a wallet and license belonging to a Bainbridge Island man. He is the suspected driver.

One woman reported she was on Totten Road when she saw car lights in the woods and a man, who appeared intoxicated, walking in the roadway.

Bainbridge Island Police went to the man’s home address but no one was there.

Speedy Ticket

A 25-year-old Kingston man was stopped for reckless driving about 3 a.m. March 24. Washington State Patrol reported the man driving a white Dodge Dakota 4-wheel drive pickup at a high speed and possibly struck a guard rail.

When officers stopped the man he denied hitting the rail but did say he might have been driving too fast.

Washington State Patrol continued the investigation and arrested the man for driving under the influence.

Caught in the act

A 13-year-old boy was caught snooping around his neighbor’s house on Seawind Avenue in Poulsbo around 8 p.m. March 23. The homeowner arrived and saw him flee out the side door. She reported to officers the boy looked like her next-door neighbor.

When officers contacted the boy and his father, both at home at the time, they noticed three feet of beer cans, pizza boxes and garbage piled in the kitchen.

The boy admitted he’d let himself into the neighbor’s house via an unlocked, sliding door. This was also his second time, he said. Previously he took two pillows but said he didn’t take anything this time.

He was arrested and booked into juvenile detention for second-degree burglary.
