About 400 Microsoft employees plan to descend on Port Orchard, July 15, for an employee appreciation day.

“This is the city’s chance to put their best foot forward,” and if the Microsoft workers like the place, they may come back later, said Patti Kirkpatrick, the city clerk.

The group plans to take an Argosy Cruise to the city, arriving around 10:30 a.m.

Throughout the day, they can sample hors d’oeuvres at Amy’s on the Bay, try wine at the Puget Sound Wine Cellar, golf at the McCormick Woods Golf Course or try ice cream from Carter’s Chocolates.

Some may take the foot ferry to Manette, or to Bremerton said Kirpatrick, but large number will probably stay in downtown Port Orchard, for shopping.

They plan to take an Argosy Cruise back to Seattle 3 p.m.

The city of Port Orchard and Kitsap Peninsula Visitor’s Bureau thought of other things for the group to do outside the downtown area, but, for the most part, opted not to pursue them.

“Due to the limited amount of time, they’re just kind of staying right here,” Kirpatrick said. “There are other things we could have sent them to do, it’s just a matter of logistics.”
