ELLENSBURG — When students finish a selection of music in the State Solo and Ensemble Contest, they typically do not receive any immediate feedback from judges.

“I usually tell [students] if they have three 1’s, they should stay,” North Kitsap High School choir teacher Sylvia Cauter said. In the past, she has seen students leave the contest, only to win first place during the awards ceremony.

And for students in the North Kitsap School District, there is potential for many awards.
