BREMERTON – More than $22,000 in scholarship money was awarded to 17 contestants at the Miss Poulsbo, Miss Kitsap, Miss Silverdale Scholarship Pageant at Bremerton High School Jan. 9.

Kaitlyn Morrell, a 17-year-old senior at Olympic High School and Running Start student at Olympic College, was crowned the 63rd Miss Poulsbo. She received $3,600 in scholarships in addition to a $1,000 scholarship to Olympic College. The Miss Kitsap title was awarded to Amy Liu, 19, a sophomore at Olympic College. She received $3,000 in scholarships. Jasmine Medina, an 18 year old senior at Olympic High School and Running Start student at Olympic College was named Miss Silverdale. She received $3,250 in scholarships in addition to being awarded a 1,000 scholarship to Olympic College.

Kyla Baesler, an 18-year-old senior at IAcademy was named the first runner-up to Miss Poulsbo and received $900 in scholarships. Abigail Shedd, 17, a senior at Bremerton High School and Running Start student at Olympic College was awarded first runner-up to Miss Kitsap and received $500 in scholarships. Asia Tatum, an 18-year-old freshman at Olympic College was named the first runner-up to Miss Silverdale, she received $700 in scholarships.

The Olympic College Foundation gave out another $1,000 scholarship to Ella Hazzard, a 17-year-old senior at Olympic College and a $500 scholarship to Colby Conde, an 18-year-old freshman at Olympic College. They have given the Miss Poulsbo Miss Kitsap Miss Silverdale Scholarship Organization a total of $37,925.00 since 2005. Paige Martinez, a 21-year-old student at Olympic College received the Promise for Tomorrow Award and a $1,000 scholarship.

The new Miss Poulsbo, Miss Kitsap and Miss Silverdale will spend the next year promoting their community platforms in addition to making appearances and raising money for local non profit organizations. Their first week o the job will be a busy one. They will be attend a Chamber Luncheon, volunteer at the Naval Avenue Boys and Girls Club, entertain at a Princess Birthday Party and attend their first Chamber Gala. Last year’s titleholder made 230 combined appearances; the 2016 titleholders are ready to match and beat their efforts.
