KINGSTON — A 16-year-old Edmonds boy escaped injury after jumping from a state ferry as it approached the Kingston dock late Friday afternoon.

North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews were dispatched to a water rescue in the waters adjacent to the ferry landing at about 4:20 p.m. on Friday after crew from the vessel, arriving from Edmonds, called in the incident. As firefighters were en route to pick up the district’s fire-rescue boat at the Kingston Marina, dispatchers informed them that the ferry crew had launched a rescue boat and plucked the boy from the water. North Kitsap Fire & Rescue crews transferred the boy from the ferry to the waiting paramedic unit where he was examined and found to be uninjured.
