Don’t miss the Kitsap Fair and Stampede’s centennial celebrations Aug. 23 to 27

Get your blood pumping with rodeo action, new carnival rides + more!

The Kitsap Fair and Stampede marks 100 years Aug. 23 to 27, and from old favorites like the rodeo and to tasty new food offerings and new carnival rides, you have LOTS of ways to celebrate!

“We’re very excited to welcome the Kitsap community to the 100th anniversary of our county’s beloved fair and stampede,” says Fair Manager Rich Nestor. “The Kitsap Fair and Stampede has been a fixture in our community since 1923 and a highlight of the summer for many generations of local families.

“While the event itself has grown and changed over the past few decades, it has remained at its core a fair that brings our community together.”

Rodeo & Xtreme Bulls

A purse of more than $150,000 is on the line at this year’s Rodeo and Xtreme Bulls event, and that means more heat, intensity and excitement than ever before!

Hooves start flying Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. and tickets are available online here or at the gate. This year’s event received so many contestant entries that the Kitsap Fair and Stampede is excited to announce an additional opportunity to catch some cowboy action. Pay fair admission, then come into the arena free to watch the slack rodeo. We are anticipating more than 200 competitors on Thursday and Friday morning. Slack begins at 9 a.m., with activities that include tie-down roping, team roping, barrel racing, break-away roping and steer wrestling.

Fantastic food, vendors and more

The Rodeo and Xtreme Bulls aren’t the only way to get your heart pumping at this year’s fair! The carnival, presented by Funtastic Traveling Shows, will be back with rides for all ages, including some new rides to check out! There will be more than 100 food and commercial vendors onsite at the fair, including many popular vendors from previous years and some new soon-to-be favorites!

“As we celebrate our 100-year anniversary, we’re anticipating over 85,000 people to attend this year’s fair and rodeo,” Nestor says. “We encourage everyone to buy their rodeo tickets ahead of time – they’re available online and include fair admission. Tickets for the carnival will be available day-of and are sold separately and directly at the carnival.

“In addition, the Kitsap Jr. Livestock Association will hold their annual livestock auction on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. in the LS Tractor Ring beside the swine barn. Come support the kids and see their year long projects go for the highest dollar; It’s an exciting time for them.”
