Who remembers Whitney’s Grocery? | A Glance At The Past | April

The Kingston Historical Society is again requesting some help. The picture this month is of Whitney’s Grocery.  It was on the corner of Highway 104 and Miller Bay Road.  The store burned down.

When did it burn? Can someone provide the year and month that the fire happened? We have received a request from a person doing some family research.

Whitney’s Grocery stood where the whimsical figures are now located, across from Rite Aid in Kingston.

Please contact me at (360) 297-2448 or send a note to us at PO Box 333, Kingston, 98346. Include any additional information you might have.

On another historical note, the U.S. Lighthouse Society is opening a gift shop on April 2 at the Point No Point lighthouse. A poster of the light house will be available for purchase.  Judy Odell, a local artist, is the painter of the picture used for the poster. She will be at the gift shop to sign the posters from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on opening day.

U.S. Lighthouse Society Director Jeff Gales can be reached at (415) 362-7255 or by email  jeff@uslhs.org.
