Seattle-by-way-of-Vashon band The Pharmacy to play the Zeitgeist Concert Series one last time.

If you haven’t heard, The Pharmacy — one of Seattle’s quirky art-punk/indie-rock 21st century staples — is leaving town.

They’re “Walkin’ to New Orleans … “ they say, after a final few shows in Seattle (final, of course, until the next time they tour up this way) — New Years Eve at The Comet Tavern and three days later Jan. 2 at the Healthy Times Fan Club. On Dec. 19, they’ll bid adieu to Kitsap at the all ages Zeitgeist Concert Series with Kingston-locals The Electric Lemonade Project and Jordan Sterling at the Island Music Guild on Bainbridge Island.

When not touring for months at a time (the Pharmacy did multiple U.S. tours and their first European jaunt this past year), the keys/guitar/drums three-piece has been one of the most oft-rocking and most visible bands in the Seattle scene, and every now and again in Kitsap, over the past four years — ever since moving to the city from their hometown on Vashon Island.

Their lo-fi Brit-influenced brand of hard-working, hand-clapping, sing-along-friendly, stuck-in-your-head-for-days scrappy pop punk is tethered only slightly by poetic lyrics and bandanas. But there is no reigning in the infectious energy at a live show.

Seattle’s alt-weekly The Stranger has sung the band’s praises over the years to that end, while the Pharmacy’s latest album “Choose Yr Own Adventure” got ink in Spin and, funny, and fittingly, enough from the Onion News Network.

The Onion nod seems fitting because a Pharmacy show is about as much fun as reading the fake online news source — more dancing feet than witty news reports, granted, but good times nonetheless.

Also fitting, I think, that the band is literally choosing its own adventure in packing up for New Orleans next year.
