Volunteers, donations needed for Kingston Fourth of July

The Kingston Fourth of July celebration is only spectacular with a spectacular effort behind it.

Planning for the 2010 event is already under way. By the time July rolls around, hundreds of volunteers will have donated thousands of hours.

Tens of thousands of dollars are also needed to make the celebration a success. It costs about $35,000 to put on the show each year.

Organizers are looking for business sponsors, individual donations and a lot of volunteers.

“There are all sorts of jobs to do,” said Dale Rude, who is spearheading planning for the effor this year.

The Fourth is shaping up to be a three-day event, beginning Friday, July 2.

As always, the festivities will include live music, fireworks and a colorful parade. The annual Tiny Town festival for kids features games, pony rides, a play area, dunking booths a craft area and more.
