Suquamish Elementary students mark Earth Day | Photos

SUQUAMISH — Suquamish Elementary students marched through town Friday in celebration of Earth Day. This year’s parade included a “Procession of the Species,” with colorful costumes representing a spectrum of species, from sharks to panda bears.

The marchers proceeded from the school to the Suquamish Tribe’s House of Awakened Culture, where they were greeted by drummers and singers. An assembly followed, honoring students involved in composting, recycling, habitat conservation and other environmental projects.
