Kitsap cartooner honored by Cartoonists Northwest

Pat Moriarity awarded the coveted Golden Toonie for 2007, an honor designated for the best cartoonist in the Northwest.

Highly regarded alternative illustrator Pat Moriarity is at it again.

With a sweeping history of cartoon and design work for such auspices as the Vans Warped Tour, Pearl Jam, MxPx and more, Moriarity was recently honored by the one of the most active cartoonists groups in North America.

Cartoonists Northwest, a collection of amateur and professional cartoonists residing in the Pacific Northwest, bestowed Moriarity with the coveted 2008 Golden Toonie Award March 6.

On his blog Moriarity said it’s an honor that he takes quite seriously given the number of great cartoonists with Northwest ties from which it could’ve chosen.

Cartoonists Northwest has been recognizing local cartoonists for the last 16 years with its Toonie Awards. Past winners include cats like David Horsey, Lyn Johnston, Ellen Forney and Peter Bagge.
