Kids rule June 18 at the market | Farmers Market | June

Saturdays in June — think blue skies, warm sunshine, and fresh breezes. Did you know that all farmers are inherently optimistic?

The 2011 Kingston Farmers Market sponsors Kids Day on June 18, a celebration of the end of the school year. The Market will unveil this year’s Kids Art selected from hundreds of entries from the North Kitsap School District. The art will be showcased on a fresh set of Kids Postcards on sale at the Market. Also on hand will be free face painting, llamas and lambs, and the beginning of Storytelling at the Market, co-sponsored by the Kitsap Regional Library and the school district.

Music for June will begin at 10 a.m. Here’s the lineup:

June 4: Valerie Markell plays  indie/folk.

June 11: Whateverly Brothers entertain with three-layer harmonies.

June 18: Chris Neil Trio mixes country, folk and classic rock.

June 25: Jim Bybee shows off his fingerstyle guitar talent.

Another date to remember is Christmas in July, planned for July 23. This year, there will be a raffle (made possible by generous Kingston merchants) as well as Santa Claus and a kids table to make holiday ornaments. Proceeds go to local food banks. Please bring a canned food to donate through June.

The Kingston Farmers Market runs 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays on the Kingston waterfront.
