A proud Little Boston team | A Glance At The Past | March

Baseball season is fast approaching. The Seattle Mariners are at spring practice in Peoria, Arizona.

Coaches of local teams are anticipating their seasons, too.

Our Glance at the Past this month is of the 1950 Little Boston baseball team. They are very proudly wearing their new uniforms.

Elof Burke was the owner of the grocery store at George’s Corner for 15 years. He purchased uniforms for the team in 1950. “Boston” is printed on the front and “Burke’s Grocery” adorns the back.

I’m sure there were no prouder baseball players in the entire Kingston area.

Members of the team from left to right are (kneeling) Gus Makris, unidentified, Russell Fulton, Luck Anderson, Vic Tom, (standing)Reg Fulton Sr., Con Sullivan, Ted George, Ken Fulton, Chuck George, Rude Purser Sr., Les Charles, Kelly Tom and unidentified.

Please help us identify the final two members of the team. Contact Harriet Muhrlein at (360) 297-2448 or harrietmuhrlein@comcast.net.

Harriet Muhrlein is president of the Kingston Historical Society. The society’s next meeting is at 10 a.m. March 24th at the Kingston Community Center.
