Strong schools equals strong communities

On Sept. 10, the North Kitsap Schools Foundation held its fourth annual Dine Out for NK Schools event. Fourteen local restaurants (a record!) participated and generously donated more than $4,000 to the foundation, which will be used to fund grants for exciting and enriching academic opportunities for NK students.

Thank you to the following restaurants for their support: The Grub Hut, That’s-A-Some Italian, Bella Luna Pizza, Hot Shots Java, Mora Iced Creamery, Richie’s Burger Urge, Westside Pizza (Kingston and Poulsbo), the Filling Station, ChocMo, Green Light Diner, The Loft, Puerto Vallarta and Yo!G’s Yogurt.

As with all NKSF work, it was a community effort. Thank you to our foundation ambassadors; the North Kitsap Herald and North Kitsap School District for their help in getting the word out; and to the Poulsbo Home Depot and Poulsbo Lions Club for the supplies and muscle to display our new “Dine Out” sign on Highway 305.

We are most appreciative, however, of the numerous community members who dined out in a show of support for our local schools. Your involvement was inspiring and reinforces the North Kitsap Schools Foundation motto: “Strong schools = Strong communities.”
