Property rights, you don’t have any

You, as a homehowner, should be very concerned about what Kitsap County Department of Community Development is trying to adopt.

The county commissioners are attempting to consolidate Code/Compliance/Enforcement provisions into one code call Title V. This is something all home and landowners should be aware of because it not only increases fines and litigation with the hearing examiner, but it will require the landowners to be responsible for bring property, structures and their uses into compliance with applicable code when purchasing or taking possession of property, structures and their uses. This will eliminate the so-called concept of “grandfathering.”

There is some things in Title V County Code Compliance Ordinance that seems to be unconstitutional (Fourth Amendment), but you can decide yourself.

Please go to the Kitsap County Department of Community Development website, call your commissioner or go to kitsapalliance.org.
