Parks district: Renters feel the pain, too

In the Friday, Aug. 6 North Kitsap Herald, Jack Shubic incorrectly asserted that “rental houses” or renters do not pay property taxes.

This is a common mistake; someone is paying the tax on that property, in most cases the tax is passed on in the form of higher rent.

Although I feel Kingston would benefit from a new community center, I do not feel that a new taxing authority will stop at 15 cents and will quickly grow to the 75-cent limit. I am not going to tell you how to vote, but I would budget for the maximum tax not the minimum. This goes for all houses in Kingston, both owner occupied and rentals.
