I believe it was John Donne who wrote β… therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.β
In about six weeks, the bell will toll. May it toll for the demise of the Pelosi-Reid Reign of Terror. For a unique 230-year experiment in self governance and individual liberty is under siege by our government. A liberal government led by a president busily involved in dismantling the constitutional restrictions that limit his ability to βfundamentally transform the way we do business in America.β
Weβre being transformed, all right. Thatβs transformed with a capital T. No more offshore oil. Coal mining is allowed only at the pleasure of the EPA.
Nuclear power; natural gas? Sorry.
Canβt compete with government subsidized windmills, solar panels and corn in your gas tanks. Green power to the people! So now the men and women who worked to produce our energy have been transformed to jobless. A few can be retrained to become buyers of coal and oil from China, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela and South Africa. But most folksβ jobs have disappeared like a little pocket of expelled methane in a whirlwind. Too many are out of work and out of money.
But we can be thankful, for weβve been blessed with the financial reform bill. Two thousand pages of big government spending schemes. And βObamacare.β Two thousand five hundred pages full of fun ways to raise your health insurance premiums while destroying you and the nationsβ economy. Stimulus bill Number 345 and counting. Folks, this administration sucks our money from the economy as a tsunami sucks seawater from the beach just before it comes ashore, destroying everything in its path.
A tsunami canβt be stopped. But this rogue administration can be halted in its tracks.
Thatβs what weβre here for. And we better do our job and get it right. If we fail to get out and vote, the bell will toll in mourning for our generation. The generation whose call to greatness went unheeded. The generation that turned its back on its unborn children and grandchildren and let them hang out to dry.
