BREMERTON — Kitsap County Public Works is partnering with a local biodiesel firm to offer a new used-cooking oil recycling option at the Olympic View Transfer Station, at no cost.

Used cooking oils should be transported in a secure container and be free of bones and food particles.

Studies show that biodiesel outperforms gasoline, ethanol and conventional diesel in reducing carbon dioxide emissions and in overall improved fuel-efficiency. Biodiesel has also been proven to be much less toxic than diesel fuel, and is readily biodegradable. This makes it safer for distribution, use and storage.

Olympic View Transfer Station is located at 9300 SW Barney White Road, Bremerton. Hours: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
