Last month, Tommy C’s owner Tommy Cash was told he must vacate the building located at 1501 Piperberry Way by Feb. 28.

So in efforts to relocate his business, he and his wife, Ester, have started a GoFundMe.com account with a fundraising goal of $25,000. As of Jan. 26, more than $5,400 had been donated.

Cash said he has 18 employees and that he has no intention of closing his successful business. But because of the extensive process that comes with a move — Cash wants to find a location with a commercial kitchen in place — he is seeking an extension on his lease through September.

According to his GoFundMe.com account, Cash said he is negotiating with the bank, First Citizens Bank and Trust Co., that  owns the property. The bank took ownership on Dec. 9 when no buyer for the building was found.

“But one thing is for certain whether this month or the next: we will need to relocate,” Cash posted on website’s account. “We are looking into several options for new space, but no matter where we move, funding will be necessary.”

Cash wrote he’s “extremely optimistic that we will be able to relocate successfully.” He is looking at South Kitsap, Bremerton, Gig Harbor and Silverdale as potential locations.

“But if the worst happens and we are forced to close our doors, any and all funds donated will be divided between our 18 employees,” he posted. “They are the ones that this will be hurting the most, and they are the least deserving of the hardships this will bring.”
