State disciplines local health care providers

The state Department of Health has taken disciplinary actions or withdrawn charges against the following health care providers in Kitsap County in February.

POULSBO — The state Department of Health has taken disciplinary actions or withdrawn charges against the following health care providers in Kitsap County.

— In February, the Secretary of Health charged physician Saad K. Alagba (MD00011480) with unprofessional conduct. Alagba allegedly pursued an inappropriate relationship with a pediatric patient’s mother.

— In February, the Dental Commission entered an agreement with dentist Seok W. Nichols (DE00010224) to abide by certain conditions, including paying a $15,000 fine. He was found to have provided substandard care to two patients. The commission will monitor his credential for two years.

— In February, the Nursing Assistant Program ended probation for registered nursing assistant Sharley R. Shore (NA00031810).

The department’s Health Systems Quality Assurance Division works with boards, commissions, and advisory committees to set licensing standards for more than 80 health care professions (e.g., medical doctors, nurses, counselors).
