The old Shi Shi Ni Barbecue House, located on Bay Street, has been purchased and work is underway in renovating the top floor of the two-story building.

Dave Jeffcoat, vice president and regional manager of Kitsap Bank, said he had been watching the building from his office for several years and checking on the price.

“I’ve been watching this building ever since Shi Shi Ni went out of business,” said Jeffcoat. “I knew there was a two-bedroom apartment on top of it and was in it about 10 years ago after the owner remodeled it. I watched the price of it and decided it would be a good investment.”

He purchased the building several months ago for $160,000.

“I thought it was a great price and a good investment,” said Jeffcoat.

He said he’s been remodeling the apartment for about two months, but still has more work to do before it is finished.

The apartment area is about 1,300 square feet.

Jeffcoat said he is unsure about what he will do with the bottom floor of the building that has housed several restaurants in the past. The restaurant area is more than 1,300 square feet with the kitchen area.

“I’ve got to test the waters,” Jeffcoat said. “It’s set up for a restaurant and has been a restaurant for the past 70 years or more.”
