New spot for sweet shop

Carter's Chocolates moves to Bethel Avenue location

Carter’s Chocolates recently moved from the Towne Square mall on Mile Hill Drive to 160 Bethel Ave.

“The expenses here aren’t any more here (than at the Towne Square),”  business owner Matt Carter said, “and the visibility and parking are better.”

Carter is having a monthlong chocolate-themed celebration in honor of the occasion.

The shop is offering one truffle each day for $1, and anyone wearing a Carter’s Chocolates t-shirt will get 10 percent off.

The event culminates Oct. 8, with a day of chocolate-themed activities and a fundraiser for South Kitsap Helpline Food Bank.

There will be a bake sale to raise money for Helpline, and participants are encouraged to bring extra samples of their wares for a contest.

The winner will get a gift certificate to Carter’s Chocolates.

He has also planned a contest to see who comes up with the best short YouTube-style video featuring Carter’s Chocolates, and the winner, or winners, will get a $100 gift card to the store.

“If there are two or three really good videos, I’m happy to give away two or three (gift cards),” Carter said.

Carter hopes it’s the last time he celebrates a “grand re-opening” for Carter’s Chocolates.

Its “third annual move,” he said with a laugh, and he’s really happy with the new location.

“Sometimes, there’s as many people in here at one time as there was at the Towne Square in an entire day,” he said.
